Metal Shop Hours:

The Metal Shop is not appointment only - the Metal Shop monitor will maintain the proper room occupancy and user social distancing. Schedule time to learn about the Metal Shop use.

Metal Protocols for Use:

The Metal shop boasts capability with both cold working (bending, sheering, rolling) and hot assembly; MIG, TIG, spot (resistance) welding, and assembly techniques. Please use the monitor as a resource for any questions surrounding metal working.

  1. Eye and ear protection must be worn at all times, Anyone without will be asked to leave immediately.  We have safety glasses and several pairs of ear protection. 

  2. Closed toe shoes must be worn.  Students without will be asked to leave. 

  3. If you are unsure how to operate a machine, please ask.  Monitors are there for your reference.

  4. Please be mindful of your neighbor in the shop.  The Metal Shop can get crowded quickly which could lead to dangerous situations - flying metal ships, chords, etc.

  5. Please be mindful of the heat in the shop - it gets hot!

  6. Please use lubricant where necessary for the longevity of the tool and your piece

  7. Please clean up!
